Would like to share a device between two users who belong to different departments. I tried doing that by creating a common device profile, adding said device to that profile, and sharing that profile between two departments. I am able to add the device profile to the first Department. However, when assigning the Device Profile to the second Department, I get a “Status Code:400, Message: department scope has violations” error
Can it be changed so that multiple Departments have access to a given Device Profile?
The primary idea of the department is to isolate the assets [edge devices]. So that one department users can not see/access/modify the edge devices of another department.
Like:
a. We have development department users, who are developing new features, working on beta features. They should not, even by mistake, deploy the new software on production edge devices.
b. We have operation department users, who should be allowed to access devices of the testing department, and so on.
Now what is the workaround:
As an admin, who has access to all the department, can move the device from one device profile to another profile, so that a device that was accessed in the development department can be accessed in the testing department, henceforth. This will move is permanent, until the admin moves it back. However, we can not have two users of the different departments to access the devices across departments simultaneously.
